庇護申請者性侵案風波再續：涉事罪犯被監獄錯誤釋放
據 BBC 報道，警方正在追捕早前因性侵罪名被判監的埃塞俄比亞籍（Ethiopian）尋求庇護者 Hadush Kebatu，他在昨日（10 月 24 日） 被錯誤地釋放。Kebatu 於本年 7 月日連續兩天在 Epping 性騷擾及企圖強吻一名 14 歲少女，甚至觸摸她的大腿。一名女途人後來介入事件，豈料 Kebatu 亦在他們談話時觸摸她的大腿。據了解，Kebatu 當時來到英國僅 8 天。此案在事發的雅息士郡（Essex）市鎮 Epping 觸發了一連串示威活動。
Kebatu 原定於昨日從 HMP Chelmsford 監獄送往移民拘留中心，服刑 12 個月後再被遣返。但司法大臣 David Lammy 表示，這位 41 歲男子目前在倫敦「逍遙法外」（”at large”）。倫敦都市警部（Met Police）、英國交通警察局（British Transport Police）和雅息士郡警察局（Essex Police）正在聯手追蹤犯人。Essex Police 證實，Kebatu 於昨日下午 12:41 在 Chelmsford 車站登上了一列火車，並於 13:10 抵達東倫敦 Stratford 下了車。
警方表示，他們於昨日 12:57 被監獄服務局（Prison Service）通知發生「錯誤」（”error”）後開始搜查工作。HMP Chelmsford 的一名獄警已被停職，但一名高級監獄職員指這一錯誤是「一系列失誤造成的，可能是因為工作人員工作過度，人手短缺」（”down to a series of mistakes, probably because staff are overworked and in short supply”）。首相 Sir Keir Starmer 稱此次釋放「完全不可接受」（”totally unacceptable”），並補充指 Kebatu「必須被捕及驅逐出境」 （”must be caught and deported for his crimes”）。
倫敦都市警部已呼籲 Kebatu 自首。指揮官 James Conway 直接向他發出呼籲：「我們希望以安全可控的方式找到你。你在與移民局人員交談時已表示過想返回埃塞俄比亞。對你來說最好的結果是直接與我們聯絡，打 999 或前往警局。」（”We want to locate you in a safe and controlled way. You had already indicated a desire to return to Ethiopia when speaking to immigration staff. The best outcome for you is to make contact directly with us by either calling 999 or reporting yourself to a police station.”）
